Who are the heretics? Chapter Three: Gerald Prokop

June 18th, 2009

Gerald Prokop

Gerald Prokop was born in a box, and has since been trying to climb out. So far, his left arm and leg are free, as are his right foot and part of his tongue. This allows him to wander around, run into things, and taste them.

Sorry, in all seriousness, Gerald is a songwriter, recording artist and pizza delivery driver who, by some perverse twist of brain chemicals, feels a relief from the weight of creativity by designing web content purely by editing code.

First design meeting

May 31st, 2009

The design team of the Great Heresy Theater Company just had its first meeting last Thursday, and our vision for how the show is going to look is coming together. The show aesthetic will be inspired in large part the Great Depression era photos of Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange–a stark, worn landscape filled with desperate people. However, the show is set about 200 years in the future, and the landscape of human civilization would look quite different at that time if civilization as we know it fell apart. Materials would either be crudely constructed using available materials and minimal knowledge of craft (as a rampant religious fundamentalism would tend to clamp down on too much creativity and independent thinking), or they would be scavenged remnants of today’s civilization–largely made of plastic, which is the only thing that is expected to last forever.

Our designers, Kristin DeBoom, Josh Feist, and Sean Connaughty, will be working with Michelle to create a simple yet vivid visual depiction of the world of Strange Weather. Tune in for more design-related information as it develops!

Also, we would be amiss if we did not call out the excellent work of our webmaster, Gerald Prokop, to put together this website template using WordPress. We owe you our thanks, Jerry!
